4. When choosing underwear or jeans, you will need to measure your hips and waist.

It should be taken into account that the smallest clothing size is thirty-eight, so if your parameters are smaller than it, you will have to have things made to order. It does not comply with the GOST, according to which things are sewn in domestic factories.

But in addition to this, to determine the size of trousers, suits and dresses, a height indicator is also required. Some manufacturers indicate the length of the back and sleeves on their products. This is necessary, since the size cannot be the same for a short and tall woman, even taking into account that they have the same girth indicators. Women should take into account that the most popular size in Russia is M, which corresponds to clothing size 44.

The main condition for measurements is that the tape fits tightly to the body, but does not constrict it. It is also important to consider the exact areas where measurements are taken, namely:

1. The chest volume is measured along the most convex part and through the middle of the shoulder blades, but only on exhalation;
2. To determine your height, you will need to measure the length from your feet to the top of your head;
3. The underbust measurement is taken under the mammary glands and across the bottom of the shoulder blades;
4. When measuring your hips, take into account the widest part of your buttocks;
5. The waist is measured through the navel at the narrowest part of the torso;
6. The recommended length of trousers is measured from the waist to the desired end of the legs;
7. The sleeve is measured most easily – from the shoulder to the cuff.

But in most cases, even knowing this information, a woman can get confused in the size chart, especially if it is calculated for foreign clothing. Particular confusion arises with American women's clothing sizes, as they differ from domestic ones in a larger direction. Before purchasing, you should compare all indicators with the table data.

Differences in size ranges between different countries

Each country has its own size range for various items of clothing. So, for Russian women, women's sizes from the United States of America, Germany and China are absolutely not suitable. The first and second options have an overestimated indicator, and in China, almost all items are undersized.

To avoid confusion in size, there is a European standard for women's clothing sizes, which is considered international. But even here, not everything is so clear, since the international letter designations do not indicate the girth indicators. This standard provides the following information:
