Variety of models of clothes dryers, selection criteria

Transformer clothes dryer Washing and care

Cleanliness has always been the basis of any household. Every conscientious housewife has shiny floors, no dust on the shelves, clear windows, and clean and ironed linen. But clothes need to be handled carefully and gently so that a pair of trousers lasts longer, T-shirts are always bright, and shirts are carefully ironed. A special clothes dryer, of which there are many varieties, will help you avoid unnecessary labor costs and save time.

Model options

Every home has a washing machine today, but the situation with clothes dryers is worse. Few people in our country know about electric clothes dryers; most are used to hanging washed clothes on ropes on the balcony or outside, in the yard of a private house. Often, underwear fades from the sun, loses its color, in the summer flies and other insects often land on it, staining things, and foreign odors can be absorbed into damp fabric.

If space at home allows, modern housewives advise buying a clothes dryer. What types there are and how to use each of them is described below. With them, you can dry washed clothes indoors. There is no need to hang personal items for everyone to see in the yard and constantly monitor their safety. There are unexpectedly many varieties of such devices:

  • floor;
  • wall-mounted;
  • folding with rods;
  • electrical;
  • vertical;
  • drums;
  • ceiling;
  • folding;
  • sliding.

By material of manufacture

First, we need to go over the materials from which certain models are made:

  • plastic - inexpensive and lightweight dryers, but the strength of the structure is questionable, especially with a heavy load of wet laundry. The practicality of the product increases several times if the manufacturer combined plastic with other, more durable materials, for example, with aluminum;
  • aluminum - perhaps the only advantage here is the lightness of this metal. Otherwise, there are mainly disadvantages: plasticity, low wear resistance, fragility, short life, susceptibility to oxidation. Wet clothes will somehow provoke the formation of rust, as a result - stains, complex, difficult to remove, spoiling things;
  • stainless steel – durable, wear-resistant products. Corrosion and rust are not a problem for such material. But since the connecting parts are too massive, and the tubes themselves are quite heavy, the weight of the entire structure negates the concept of portability. But still, such a dryer is reliable, at the same time it is more expensive than others;
  • wood – not always practical, but almost always affordable and presentable. Of course, moisture has a detrimental effect on wood, but with proper treatment of the crossbars and constant ventilation, the dryer will last a long time, will not lose its shape and will not fall apart;
  • Ropes are an outdated type of dryer. Rope structures will definitely sag, wear out or break over time. It is better to give preference to more modern materials.

By installation method

Types of dryers are divided not only by one criterion, the design of the item is also important. Thanks to one or another configuration, you can place a room device in a spacious room or in a narrow room, on a balcony.

Floor clothes dryer can be vertical or horizontal. Their features:

  • vertical – usually narrow, compact, a shelf with rods on one or both sides of the base. Many things will not fit here, small items of clothing will do: underwear, scarves, T-shirts, socks;
  • horizontal - the dryer is wide, with good, strong supports, which allows you to hang bed linen folded in two or three layers, large items: sweaters, trousers, nightgowns, shirts, towels. One horizontal dryer can hold all the washing unloaded from the drum of a 5 kg washing machine. Housewives really liked electric horizontal models - they are capacious, stable, and dry quickly.

Wall and ceiling structures are simple. There are dryers with crossbars that lower one by one, which is convenient for short people to hang out laundry one by one.

A great option is sliding dryers - the best solution for small apartments. Such designs are sold in many hardware stores. Their size can be different: they can be folded up to the ceiling or only in two directions, forming a compact and narrow model. There are products so intricate that when assembled, you get a whole star or a large circle with a diameter of human height, where there are many crossbars, everything is perfectly fixed and stands in place.

Electrical

When it is not very warm in the apartment, an electric clothes dryer will help. Thanks to it, things will not dry out too much, there will be no musty feeling, the process will not drag on for several days.

There are several types of electric dryers:

  • traditional with rods - they are the ones that heat up, the device is powered by the mains, suitable for household use;
  • floor with a cover - a tripod with hangers. The laundry is hung up, covered with a cover, a heat fan from below blows on shirts and dresses;
  • drum - looks like a washing machine, only much lighter. The drum heats up, the laundry spins in it, not suitable for delicate drying;
  • drying cabinet - a bulky machine where any things, shoes, hats and other items of clothing are hung. They are blown with warm air from all sides. Such cabinets are rarely used at home, but are found in laundries, beauty salons, dry cleaners.

All these models have a number of advantages:

  • helps out young parents with small children when they need to quickly wash and dry another batch of diapers;
  • folds compactly;
  • can withstand heavy loads;
  • allow you to hang out a lot of laundry at once;
  • energy efficiency;
  • Possibility of regulating the drying temperature.

As for the downsides, there are some too:

  • lack of mobility due to dependence on a power source;
  • do not work when the power supply is turned off;
  • increases your electricity bill.

Recommendations for selection

How to dry clothes quickly? A special dryer will help to rationally distribute washed items in the space of an apartment or a residential building.

Several key factors will help you decide on the appropriate design:

  • location of the dryer - ceiling dryers are suitable for a balcony, wall dryers for a bathroom, floor dryers for a room, and an electric floor dryer or drying cabinet is suitable for a spacious house where a large family lives;
  • weight – a good guideline here is the loading volume of the washing machine;
  • frequency of washing – often in large families or at the end of the working week;
  • quality of the product – before quickly drying clothes, check the fasteners, the integrity of the rods, the elasticity of the ropes, the insulation of the wires, if the dryer is electric. The metal legs must have rubber caps so that the structure does not slip. Too thin crossbars will not withstand the load;
  • variability and mobility – the best option would be a multifunctional dryer that can be turned into either a vertical or horizontal model. The compact folding frame can be taken to the country or to relatives in the village, loaded into the trunk of a car.

How to use correctly

Any product must be protected and instructions for use must be followed. A clothes dryer, regardless of its type, will last a long time and without the need for repairs if you follow the basic operating rules:

  • a working electrical appliance should not be placed on the balcony during frosts, even if it is closed. Strong cold from there can cause malfunctions and overheating;
  • the laundry must be wrung out thoroughly beforehand. Wet items will increase the load on the structure several times, and if it is not very strong, it will easily bend or even break;
  • after taking off the next batch of laundry, always wipe the dryer first with a damp cloth and then with a dry one. Firstly, there may be powder residue on the rods, and secondly, any moisture is a favorable environment for the development of harmful bacteria;
  • metal products are susceptible to rust, so they need to be constantly wiped with an anti-corrosion compound;
  • You shouldn't overload the dryers, it's better to postpone the next wash until tomorrow.

Of course, a dryer is a useful tool in everyday life for many housewives today. A variety of configurations, types and shapes opens up a lot of possibilities. Such a thing will be used constantly, will save a lot of time, will become a great purchase.
