Ripped jeans are a wardrobe item that first came into fashion many years ago. This season, holey pants are back in trend, and they are more expensive than regular boyfriends or skinnies, and they don’t always look the way you’d like. No problem: it’s not difficult to remake any model, including those that have already been worn and become boring, to suit your own preferences. The answer to the question of how to make holes in jeans with your own hands does not involve any particular difficulties. All you need are ordinary household items, taste, imagination, and a little ingenuity.
In what places is it better to make holes?
When choosing the part of the jeans where the holes will be located, you need to evaluate your own figure and take a closer look at popular models to know what is currently in trend. Holes and decor will invariably draw attention to the part of the body where they are located. Therefore, you should not place them in places that you want to hide - for example, on hips with cellulite, on back pockets, if there is a problem with excess weight.
Most often, it is suggested to make holes on the knees, slightly above and slightly below them, on the back and front pockets, on the hips, small opaque abrasions will look appropriate on the belt and buttocks. The general rule is one - underwear should not be visible in the abrasions.
If the hole is big, unsightly, not at all as planned, underwear or an unsightly part of the body is visible through it, the situation can be corrected. Patches are suitable for this - they can be made of the same denim fabric or a contrasting one.

The main thing is to keep the line between single holes that look like a random defect and outright bad taste, when all the jeans look like they have been through a meat grinder.
Before making holes in jeans with your own hands, you need to carefully think through the concept, experiment with different options on a separate piece of fabric or old, unnecessary pants of a similar texture. If you start right away with your favorite pants, there is a risk of irreparably ruining the thing.
Additional decor
An interesting item of clothing will be one where holes and abrasions are complemented by other decor. In this case, rhinestones are relevant. It is best to take artificial stones on an adhesive base, which are glued to the fabric using a hot iron.
Various beads, buttons, seed beads, bugles, sequins are sewn on with regular threads in the same color. The lace should be thick, textured, and match the shade of the fabric. Such pieces are sewn into fairly large holes with torn edges. From the inside, the edges of the inserts can be reinforced with interlining. If you have artistic skills, you can use fabric markers to create a truly fantastic, unique thing.
To make the holes on the knees look finished and organic, you need to wash the pants in the washing machine two or three times in the usual way. Thanks to this, the edges of the slits will fray as needed. It should be taken into account that due to this property, the hole will become wider with each subsequent wash. Therefore, it should not be too large initially. And one more thing: you can take worn jeans for alteration, but they should not be already worn out, stretched. Otherwise, you will not get a beautiful thing, and it will only last a couple of times.
