The item looks great, but is a little boring - a problem familiar to every fashionista. It is easy to fix the situation - literally a couple of stitches and a few beads can give your favorite clothes an updated stylish look. There are many ideas on how to decorate jeans, especially since this item is present in every woman's wardrobe.
Decoration options
High-quality handwork can turn any jeans into a fashion piece. Moreover, you can do it with improvised materials and tools: threads, buttons, scissors. More sophisticated appliques, rhinestones, silk embroidery will add glamor to jeans.
When decorating light-colored jeans (white, blue), you need to make sure that the decor (embroidery, applique) will not fade. To do this, soak the product or threads in hot water (40-50˚ C). After 25-30 minutes, squeeze them through a white cloth. The decor can be used if there are no colored streaks/stains.
It is not advisable to decorate jeans in the knee area – this is where the material wrinkles and deforms the most.
Rhinestones
The easiest way to add a glamorous shine to clothes is with beads or rhinestones. The entire front surface of the trousers or individual sections are decorated with intricate lines and small patterns.
To fix the rhinestones, use strong and reliable glue. Difficulties may arise only when gluing the first rhinestones. A little time and persistence - and it will be easy and simple to lay out an original pattern or ornament with rhinestones. If you sketch the lines of the pattern on the material beforehand, the process will take little time.
Small rhinestones are great for decorating the top line of pockets (front and back), belts. When gluing rhinestones, it is important to observe a sense of proportion.
Lace
Lace fabric is an original decoration for both ripped and regular jeans. Light-colored jeans with back pockets decorated with white lace (completely transparent or thicker) are suitable for leisure. The lace fabric is cut to the desired shape and simply glued to the pocket (using a lace web).
A creative option for a bold fashionista – jeans with lace stripes. Moreover, inserts with shaped contours look interesting.
There is plenty of scope for imagination – different combinations of shades. Dark grey jeans with black lace look intriguing. On vacation, white or light blue jeans with white lace look fresh and easy. No less effective will be a combination of white jeans and pale pink or light blue lace.
Application
This type of decor has long lost its original purpose - to mask holes in clothes. Today, appliques add style and creativity to ordinary things. It is easy to sew or glue "patches" of leather or fabric onto thick jeans. It is especially beautiful and relevant to decorate summer jeans with knitted elements.
It is easy to choose motifs for appliques – you can come up with them yourself, cut out a patterned part of the fabric or buy a ready-made one. An unconventional solution is applique as an element of the pattern. In this case, several materials are combined – rhinestones, embroidery, drawings.
The most common appliques are for children. As a rule, the back side of such products is adhesive and it is enough to attach the picture to the jeans and iron it. Most often, this method is used to decorate children's jeans.
Transparent tulle appliques look delicate on light-colored jeans. To disguise the stitching, the detail is sewn on with blind stitches.
Coloring
Denim is a great material for experimenting with dyeing at home. Moreover, you can transform the shade of both new and worn trousers. If the jeans have simply lost their “marketable appearance”, you can restore the shade. A primitive method is to wash old and new trousers in a machine at 40˚ C. To ensure that the dye soaks into the fabric better, stop the washing process for 2-2.5 hours without removing the items from the water. It is better to rinse the clothes in water acidified with vinegar.
Thanks to more complex manipulations, you can get a stylish trendy thing. Jeans are painted with multi-colored paints in random order. Stages of work:
- cover a flat surface with film and lay out the jeans on it;
- drip bleach onto the fabric - light spots appear. If you want a more bleached shade, drip bleach again;
- acrylic paints (of the colors you like) are carefully applied to the fabric in the area of the stains using a sponge;
- Using a toothbrush and acrylic paints, it is easy to create lots of small colored dots on your trousers.
To make the clothes look organic, the coloring is applied to the entire front side of the jeans, slightly capturing the side seams.
Embroidery
Multi-colored threads can be found in every home. Therefore, in a couple of days you can create a unique thing. Mouline, silk, cotton are best suited for embroidery. An excellent option is to additionally sew on beads, seed beads or sequins. Although, when choosing a large-sized embroidery or an unusual print, additional decorations are not needed.
Large patterns look good on the top of trousers, on pockets. Small patterns and ornaments can be embroidered on the bottom of jeans, along the edges of pockets, along the seams. It is not recommended to embroider on the seams or folds of trousers. In order not to redo the work, first apply the pattern with tailor's chalk or water-soluble markers. Popular motifs: feathers, flowers, geometric shapes. Cross-stitch, satin stitch.
Rivets
Metal elements of different shapes (squares, rectangles, triangles) are fixed to the fabric with spikes. A special rivet gun is used to attach the elements. But its absence is not a reason to refuse metal decor. Spikes on clothes can be bent with regular pliers.
Simple metal elements look more formal than fancy rivets with stones. Decorations are placed along the bottom of jeans, along the seams, and along the edges of pockets.
Buttons
A fashionable scattering of buttons will transform your usual jeans in an unconventional way. For decoration, it is advisable to select several matte or shiny buttons of different sizes. They are sewn on in a chaotic order or in the form of a pattern. Additional satin stitch embroidery will give the decor a stylish and finished look.
Rules for caring for decorated models
Clothes decorated with embroidery or rhinestones, beads require more careful care:
- Jeans with rhinestones or adhesive appliqués should not be dry cleaned, otherwise the shiny decor will quickly peel off;
- It is better to wash things by hand so that the rhinestones do not come off. If you cannot do without machine washing, then the jeans must be turned inside out. The recommended water temperature is 30˚ C. It is better to use liquid detergent and do not turn on the spin mode;
- Decorated jeans should be ironed from the inside out or through a thin damp cloth. Although wearing slightly wrinkled jeans has also become a fashion trend.
With a little creativity, it's easy to give old or new jeans a stylish, incomparable look. And then you'll want to wear them again with pleasure.
