For over a hundred years, the cap has been an invariable attribute of the military uniform of soldiers from different countries of the world. Today, this headdress is worn even by those who have nothing to do with the army, so the question of how to wear a cap correctly is relevant for many fashionistas. This wardrobe item can be combined with different styles of clothing, creating memorable images.

History of headdress

The cap is a slightly flattened hat. Its prototypes are the Serbian šajkača (worn by sailors and officers) and the Scottish glengarry - a military headdress made of woolen fabric, the appearance of which dates back to the 19th century.

The cap appeared in the vast expanses of Russia in 1913. The original name was "poletka", as it was worn by aviation personnel, being part of the uniform wardrobe of pilots. However, this name did not catch on. The headdress was renamed quite quickly. Due to the softness of the material, the cap was easily folded and placed in a pocket during the flight, without losing its shape, retaining its original appearance.

In 1917, this headdress, along with the rest of the military uniform, was abolished. But due to its practicality, in 1919 it again became part of the uniform of the Red Army ground forces. Soldiers wore single-color items, while officers' were decorated with silver inserts.

The headdress returned to aviation only in 1934 after the military reform. Thick fabric was used for its production. A distinctive sign, a red star, was attached to the place where the cap's front part is. And from December 3, 1935, every serviceman of the Red Army was required to wear this headdress. There were two types of caps:

  • for command and management staff;
  • for the rank and file.

During the Soviet era, these headdresses were mandatory in the summer for soldiers, sergeants, and senior officers. They were made of cotton fabric. Warrant officers and officers used semi-woolen fabric. The color was the same for everyone - protective. In addition, there were specific requirements on how to attach the cap to the head. In the navy, officers wore semi-woolen headdresses of black color with white edging and a cockade. Ordinary sailors were entitled to a black version made of cloth.

The military cap was considered more than just headwear. It was a symbol of courage, bravery, and selflessness of Soviet soldiers.

To this day, the headdress in question has been preserved as an integral part of the uniform. It is worn by sailors, pilots, missilemen and other servicemen of the Russian army.

How to fix it on your head correctly

There are recommendations on how to properly put on a cap, taking into account gender and hair length. First, you should choose the appropriate size. Only in this case can you count on an impeccable appearance. Otherwise, the headdress will fall off, causing discomfort.

According to the regulations, the military cap must be worn with a slight tilt forward and to the right. The distance to the eyebrows is about 4 cm. The upper edges should not open, otherwise the headdress will lose its zest. To do this, do not pull it too tightly onto your head. The above rules on how to secure the cap apply to guys.

There are different requirements for girls. If the hair is short, it is allowed to leave it loose, and the cap is put on diagonally. If the girl has long hair, it is recommended to tie it just below the crown or style it into a braided hairstyle, and put on the cap according to the regulations. For better fixation, the headdress is attached with invisible pins.
