We learn to weave wreaths on the head from live and artificial flowers

Varieties

Recently, designers have increasingly given preference to plant prints on clothes and shoes, which demonstrate closeness to nature and connection with it. Decorations in the form of flowers, branches, leaves are popular. On this wave, a feminine delicate wreath on the head has become one of the most fashionable trends. You can order it from a master, make it yourself or buy it in a store.

Traditions of wearing accessories

A ring woven from herbs and flowers has been worn on the head since ancient times. In Ancient Greece, it was given to winners of games and competitions, in Ancient Rome, warriors were crowned with it. In India and China, only representatives of the nobility and rulers were allowed to wear it.

A wreath of flowers on the head is not just a decoration, but a part of ancient traditions:

  1. It was hung above the front door to ward off dark forces.
  2. They hid it under the first sheaf of the harvest to get rid of rodents and pests.
  3. It was placed under the pillow of women in labor to ensure an easy birth.
  4. Virgins in Poland wore wreaths of mint. And an adornment with woven full pea pods indicated that the girl did not want to become the wife of an unloved man.
  5. Crowns of thorns were given to those condemned to death.
  6. The olive wreath was awarded to poets, writers, and musicians.

The sacred ritual of weaving was accompanied by chants and fun. Decorations were made for holidays, celebrations, and tragic events. In Rus', a wreath of fresh flowers with wormwood was created only during the Rusalka week on Ivan Kupala. It was considered a powerful protective amulet.

The bride's wreath was an essential attribute for the wedding. It was then kept in a chest. This decoration became the prototype of modern wedding rings.

The wreath accompanied not only happy events, but also sad ones. No funeral ceremony could do without it. After a shipwreck, it was lowered into the water at the site of the death. It was a symbol of the end of earthly life and the beginning of eternal existence.

Who is it suitable for?

The deep symbolism of the wreath has been relegated to the background in the modern world. It has become a fashion trend that increasingly adorns the heads of models on the catwalks of famous design houses. Wedding wreaths have been transformed into tiaras and headbands. Live flowers have been replaced by products made of silk, porcelain, and polymer clay.

A flower wreath looks very impressive, but one made from real plants will not last long. Not every girl wants to spend an evening weaving a decoration that will lose its attractive appearance in a couple of hours. Arrangements of artificial flowers will last a long time and look no less beautiful.

To create a harmonious image with a wreath, you need to follow the rules:

  1. At folk festivals any products look relevant.
  2. For children, you can choose bright colors.
  3. Young girls look best with wreaths of fresh flowers in delicate pastel colors.
  4. Older women are better off choosing deep natural shades.
  5. If the dress code allows, then a luxurious rose decoration will make a girl stand out at a social event.

Traditions have a way of being revived. A wreath for the bride made of fresh flowers is in fashion.

How to do it yourself

In the old days, weaving a wreath was considered a special ritual. It was performed in a female company on a certain day. Today, girls and young women can make an accessory for everyday wear, a holiday or a certain celebration. It can be made from live or artificial flowers, from autumn leaves, rowan branches.

From fresh flowers and wild herbs

Any plants with long or medium stems are suitable for weaving a wreath of fresh flowers and wild herbs. It is important that the stem is strong and does not break when bent. You can weave a wreath of daisies, dandelions, cornflowers, poppies, sunflowers, leaves. The ends are secured with a ribbon or thread. It is better not to use wire for this purpose, as it will cling to your hair.

Before starting work, it is recommended to put on gloves, as you can cut yourself or scratch yourself on the stems. Some plants secrete juice that remains on the skin in the form of green or brown spots. To weave a wreath on your head from living plants, you must follow the instructions:

  1. The first flower is placed vertically.
  2. The next one is across, the inflorescences should be as close as possible.
  3. The horizontal stem bends behind the vertical one and then comes out on the front side in front of the inflorescence.
  4. The entire procedure is repeated until the desired length is reached.
  5. The end of the decoration is tightly tied with a ribbon or thread.

Wreaths for brides made of fresh flowers are made from plants that shed minimally. If pollen stains a white dress, it will definitely spoil the girl's mood during the celebration.

Modern brides often choose a lilac wreath as a decoration, which fits perfectly into a wedding in the Provence, eco or art nouveau style. The plant practically does not crumble, in extreme cases the inflorescences can be treated with hairspray.

From artificial flowers

You can make a head wreath with your own hands from artificial flowers. It will serve for many years without losing its aesthetic appeal. To make it, you will need floral wire, plants, ribbon and glue. The head decoration from artificial flowers is created according to the following algorithm:

  1. The wire is wound and a frame is made from it.
  2. The base is wrapped with tape as tightly as possible (it is better to choose green).
  3. The stems of artificial flowers are cut to a length of 12-15 cm.
  4. The plants are placed on the frame and secured with tape in a circle.
  5. The ends are secured with glue.

A decoration made of live wild flowers looks very cute and attractive, but it is more difficult to weave. It will last for a couple of days at most, then it will start to fade, even if you treat it with a floral spray. A wreath made of artificial flowers is much more practical and will last longer.

From autumn leaves and rowan branches

A wreath made of multi-colored leaves and rowan branches is ideal as a decoration for a romantic autumn photo shoot in warm tones. Its base consists of young flexible willow or birch branches, which are wrapped around a wire frame. Then leaves and rowan are threaded through the rods. You can also weave a wreath in another way:

  1. Take the first autumn leaf and fold the edge.
  2. The stem of the second one is used to pierce this part like a needle.
  3. And so they continue in a circle.
  4. Finally, rowan branches are woven in.

Wire can be used as a base. In this case, all leaves and branches are sewn to the base or fixed with a floral or nylon tape. It is not recommended to decorate a wreath made of natural plants with artificial stones, rhinestones and beads. The product should retain its natural appearance.

From the tapes

A wonderful alternative to ready-made artificial flowers will be buds made from satin ribbons. To create a head wreath with poppies, cornflowers and daisies you will need:

  • rim;
  • red, green, blue, white and wishing ribbons;
  • beads for stamens;
  • circles cut out of felt;
  • threads;
  • synthetic padding or foam rubber;
  • lighter or matches.

To create a poppy, divide the red ribbon into 5 cm squares, cut out petals (7-9 for each flower), singe the edges. Then sew to a felt circle. The core is made from a piece of green ribbon, which is wrapped around a ball of padding polyester or foam rubber. Fix everything with black thread. Then glue or sew it into the middle between the red leaves.

To create cornflowers, the blue ribbon is divided into 4 cm squares, the edges are cut into teeth and treated with fire. 17-19 petals are collected on a thread and pulled together. Making a chamomile begins with cutting a narrow white ribbon into long pieces of 4 cm, singeing the edges. A thin yellow ribbon is strung on a needle, pulled together, making an accordion. It is folded into a circle and stitched - this is the center of the chamomile. White petals are sewn to it in the form of loops.

Leaves of different shapes are cut out of green ribbons. They are also used to wrap the headband, and leaves and flowers are sewn onto it. The wreath is decorated with stamens and beads.

From corrugated paper

Thanks to the texture of corrugated paper, flowers made from it look delicate and airy. It is very easy to make a spring wreath from this material. The frame and stems are made from wire, which is wrapped in corrugated paper of a green shade. Each subsequent layer is pressed tightly to the previous one. The leaves are created according to step-by-step instructions:

  1. Fold the paper into several layers and cut out leaf silhouettes.
  2. Wrap each element tightly around the pencil, then straighten it out.
  3. Attach each leaf to the stem one by one and glue a layer of green paper on top.
  4. If necessary, curl the edges of the petals with a pencil.

Flowers can be made any: poppies, lilies, daffodils, peonies, roses. The simplest is considered to be a chamomile. To create it from corrugated paper, you need to cut out petals from a white sheet, a core from a yellow one, glue everything onto the stem, giving the structure the appearance of a real plant.

Now you can start assembling. Wrap the finished stems with flowers and leaves around the wire base one by one. The tighter the plants are fixed, the more beautiful the decoration looks. It is better to weave so that later you can straighten each flower.

When working with corrugated paper, you need to watch the direction of the veins. They should go along the petals. There should be no wire sticking out anywhere, each section is tightly wrapped.

Useful tips

Before you start making a wreath on your head, you need to think about the combination of shades. It is better to choose a green base, and leaves - a few tones darker. Delicate wedding wreaths on your head are selected for the bride. If these are live flowers, then daisies, cornflowers, peonies, orchids, lavender, lilies will do. If artificial, then preference is given to products in pastel colors. For fashionistas who want to surprise guests at a social event, a wreath of luxurious scarlet roses is ideal.

The brighter the flowers, the more spectacular the makeup should be. Stylists recommend focusing on the eyes. Dark smoky ice goes well with red jewelry. And nude makeup goes well with delicate wreaths in pastel colors; you can just highlight your eyes a little with mascara and light shadows.

Girls with short haircuts are not recommended to wear wreaths, so as not to get a discrepancy in the image. But owners of long hair of any color can safely wear the product. The decoration is worn for certain celebrations, folk festivals, thematic festivals.
