A military uniform is the clothing of military personnel, which is established by regulatory acts. Wearing a uniform is a mandatory condition for military service. But military clothing can be not only field clothing, but also office, casual and ceremonial, which differ significantly in appearance.
Equipment of military personnel according to regulations
Young men of draft age are concerned about the question: how many types of allowances do military personnel have and what do they represent? On the territory of the Russian Federation, a number of documents regulate the provision of military personnel, which is divided into several categories:
- Monetary;
- Housing;
- Clothing;
- Food;
- Medical.
Each of the listed categories has its own regulations, according to which the state has certain obligations to a citizen serving in the armed forces of the country.
The standards for providing clothing allowance depend on the type of conscription and the length of service. But contract soldiers have their own procedure for issuing allowance. The implementation of these standards is carried out by the Ministry of Defense represented by a special commission.
The military personnel's provisions are under the jurisdiction of the wax-type households, which are engaged in the supply of equipment, clothing, linen, footwear and other accessories. The said department is responsible for the care of the above, as well as for the implementation of bathing activities and the repair of footwear or clothing.
Strict compliance with the standards of clothing provision is necessary, since only due to this it is possible to perform some combat tasks, for example, transferring the armed forces to a state of combat readiness or to carry out redeployment. But at the same time, it is necessary to take into account the description of the uniform of military personnel, since each season has its own requirements.
Clothing and equipment is issued only if a special certificate is available. But if a soldier is just arriving at a new unit and does not have this document, then a report is drawn up indicating the list of items issued by the department.
The property is a provision consisting of the following categories:
- emergency or strategic reserve;
- everyday property;
- for holding training sessions;
- personal belongings and inventory of a conscript.
Without taking into account the classification, the military style of clothing includes the following elements:
- sports uniform;
- military style headwear for men and women;
- shirts;
- accessories;
- underwear;
- trousers;
- formal wear;
- jackets;
- hygiene items;
- bed sheets.
At the same time, most of the uniform elements are presented in the form of winter and summer sets. Naturally, for service in the northern regions, the standards include insulated clothing options.
Provision of provisions to contract servicemen in the armed forces is carried out in accordance with two legislative documents that are signed at different levels. The first is the Government Resolution, and the second is the order of the Minister of Defense.
For soldiers and warrant officers serving under contract, the provision process is determined by standard No. 2. Thus, a serviceman whose rank is not higher than warrant officer must receive the following:
- ushanka hat;
- towel;
- belt;
- scarf;
- fur collar;
- woolen beret or cap;
- tie;
- summer cap;
- white shirt;
- winter coat;
- foot wraps;
- field kit;
- underwear;
- half shoes;
- underpants;
- woolen jacket;
- demi-season raincoat;
- T-shirt;
- tracksuit;
- socks;
- boots;
- gloves;
- shoes.
In this case, a full set of military clothing is issued immediately, but the transition between seasons and field uniform is provided only after the order of the military unit commander. In addition to the above, insignia are issued, which are due to a contract soldier along with heraldic symbols and emblems.
All uniforms must be returned after service, with the exception of ceremonial military clothing intended for demobilization.
There are standards for the supply of clothing and equipment to military personnel serving on a fixed-term basis, and based on these standards, a soldier is issued the following allowance:
- ushanka hat;
- trousers;
- belt for a cape;
- woolen cap;
- shirt;
- cap;
- tie;
- detachable wool collar;
- scarf;
- waist belt;
- half shoes;
- cloak;
- field clothing bag;
- socks;
- winter coat;
- boots;
- gloves;

- demi-season raincoat and jacket;
- woolen jacket;
- jacket;

- cotton suit for field training;
- underwear;
- field bag.
It should be taken into account that almost every item of clothing is issued depending on the season and the rank of the conscript. For example, a fur collar made of astrakhan is only given to senior officers, a collar made of sheepskin is given to officers, and a collar made of artificial fur is given to warrant officers.
The rules for wearing military clothing must be followed, since damage or loss is not compensated by the state, i.e. the soldier will have to buy the damaged item himself. But there is an exception here - if the damage occurred during the performance of a combat mission, the uniform or its elements will be issued again. Soldiers are issued a new uniform after the expiration date of the items.
Female military personnel receive a similar set of provisions, but it differs in that it contains the following items:
- wool jacket;
- blouse;
- wool skirt;
- summer cotton dress;
- shirt;
- panties in the form of trousers;
- stockings.
Depending on the troops, the beret may be replaced with a cap, and some items of clothing may be absent altogether.
Field
This type of military uniform is required:
- for educational activities;
- during military operations;
- during training;
- in combat operations;
- when a state of emergency is declared;
- to eliminate the consequences of disasters, accidents and other calamities.
The Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, General of the Army Sergei Shoigu, approved a new sample of the field uniform, indicating a number of improvements, since the previous uniform did not meet the requirements in many ways. Examples of this can be found in numerous pictures presented on the Internet. At the moment, clothing is being tested in the troops themselves.
The main feature of the latest field uniform for military personnel is that it is multi-layered. Previously, only field equipment for special forces units was manufactured using this principle.
The VKBO includes 23 items of clothing, which include three pairs of shoes. The combination of eight layers of clothing allows servicemen to use this field uniform both in the off-season and in winter, that is, when the temperature fluctuates from + 15 to - 40 degrees Celsius.
The field uniform includes eight layers of clothing, which include the following items:
- Lightweight underwear;
- Fleece underwear;
- Fleece jacket;
- Windbreaker;
- Demi-season suit;
- Windproof and water-resistant suit;
- Insulated vest;
- Insulated suit.
Thus, the combination of different layers is selected depending on the weather and the intensity of physical activity experienced by officers and soldiers. But if the air temperature is more than fifteen degrees, then a summer field uniform is required.
Summer
The new summer field uniform includes the following items of clothing:
- lightweight jacket;
- light boots;
- beret or cap;
- trousers.
In the production of this uniform, stretch is used, which is first treated with a water-repellent composition. When it comes to parts with the greatest load, it is necessary to apply reinforcing components, which protects the suit from mechanical damage and the degree of wear becomes minimal.
When serving in cooler conditions, a component of the military uniform is required, namely a fleece jacket, which has a thick pile on both sides of the product. The jacket has a strong layer of thermal insulation, but, if necessary, it can be easily rolled up and will take up minimal space. In windy weather, a windbreaker jacket is used, which is worn together with trousers.
Winter
In cool weather, you will need to wear military clothing such as a demi-season set, which reliably protects against the wind. The suit fabric allows steam to pass through perfectly, but at the same time it dries quickly. In special situations, waterproof clothing is required, on which even the seams are glued with special glue.
During severe frosts, a more insulated suit and vest are required, which are fairly light but practical. The winter uniform of the field kit is made of waterproof materials that also protect from the wind. In frosty weather, it is allowed to use a balaclava, which is worn as a hat or together with it.
Front door
Wearing a ceremonial military uniform is required in the following situations:
- during parades and other events where troops participate;
- when presenting the Battle Banner of a military unit;
- during holidays in the unit itself;
- when raising a flag on a ship or when launching a ship;
- when presenting awards and orders;
- during enrollment into the honor guard.
The ceremonial dress uniform of the Russian army is divided into two groups:
- Military formations where a modern approach is used and the elements of the kit change depending on weather conditions;
- Honor guard formations whose uniform is similar to that of the Imperial Guards.
The ceremonial uniform of military personnel must take into account the style of the military uniform of conscripts in Russia, but at the same time be made of high-quality materials, and also be strict and elegant.
Everyday
The color scheme of the everyday uniform is regulated by military rank and affiliation with the troops. Generals and officers wear it in olive green, while the Air Force wears it in blue. Headgear must also match the color of the uniform. All decorative elements are gold.
Women's uniforms have now become more convenient and comfortable. For example, skirts and dresses fit the figure without restricting movement, but advantageously emphasizing the beauty of the female body. The uniform for girls is also presented in two colors, depending on the affiliation with the troops. In winter, a fitted and shortened coat is used.
Soldiers, sergeants and cadets are not required to wear everyday uniforms, as there is simply no need to wear these military uniforms. Field gear can be used as an alternative.
Office
The military office uniform is a type of everyday equipment that is used only by officers, generals and some employees of the Ministry of Defense. The military office uniform is similar to the everyday uniform of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and includes the following items:
- A soft cap, which is presented in blue for the Airborne Forces and in green for military units;
- White T-shirt;
- A shirt that matches the color of the cap, and it should be short or long sleeved, depending on weather conditions. A tie is not used in this case, but shoulder straps may be attached to the shoulders;
- Trousers that match the color of the cap and shirt.
In the cold season, a warm jacket is used, to which a hood is attached if necessary. The headdress can be replaced with a fur hat. This form of clothing, a photo of which can be easily found on the Internet, is used less often than others. But it is strictly forbidden to use everyday clothes as field clothes.
Underwear
Underwear can be lightweight, short, long, or fleece. The first and second options imply that the products are made of lightweight knitwear, are breathable, absorb moisture, and dry quickly. Short underwear consists of boxer shorts and a short-sleeved T-shirt.
Fleece underwear has a pile backing, but it can be worn directly on the body. In the off-season, this type of underwear is used as a warming layer, and in winter, this military uniform is worn as a base layer. The fabric composition is 93% polyester and 7% elastane, while lightweight underwear is 100% polyester.
The linen issued to each serviceman includes the following items:
- vest and shirt;
- tights or stockings;
- pants;
- sleeveless vest;
- underpants;
- t-shirt;
- T-shirt;
- foot wraps;
- socks.
Each of the above items is issued depending on the season and can be summer or winter.
