Coats and short coats
A coat is a classic piece of men's outerwear that appeared in medieval Europe more than 300 years ago. Since then, fashion has transformed the coat from a simple cape into a practical, comfortable part of any business man's wardrobe. A modern coat is an elongated jacket with a stiff collar and wide lapels, single or double button fastening, and neat inset pockets. As a feature of business style, the coat does not have outside pockets with Velcro, zippers, or other elements more typical of sportswear.
The highest quality and most durable models of this outerwear are made from the following materials:
- Cashmere;
- Tweed;
- Gabardine.
Currently, the most fashionable and relevant types of coat cuts are:
- Crombie;
- Balmacaan;
- Raglan;
- Redingote;
- Dufflecoat;
- Polo;
- Overcoat;
- Covercoat;
- Chesterfield.
It is convenient and comfortable to wear a coat in early autumn, spring. It is also suitable for wearing in not cold dry winter. It is not recommended to wear a coat in damp and rainy weather.
A short coat is a short coat. It is used for wearing in warmer and more comfortable weather.
Down jacket
A down jacket is a light, insulated outerwear. It began to spread actively in the middle of the last century. Mountaineers became the "pioneers", they used very warm jackets with natural down when climbing in conditions of very low temperatures and piercing cold winds. However, over time, companies producing such insulated jackets realized that the demand from mountaineers and polar explorers would not bring them much income. Therefore, it was decided to sew affordable, practical and high-quality down jackets for ordinary people. A down jacket is currently a very common and affordable insulated clothing for any man.
The top of this clothing is made from materials such as:
- Bologna;
- Raincoat fabric;
- Synthetic materials with water-repellent impregnation.
A zipper and additional buttons provide reliable protection from blowing. Down jackets designed for harsh winters come with a detachable hood, often with a fur trim.
In addition to natural fluff, hypoallergenic synthetic materials are used as insulation:
- Sintepon;
- Synthetic down;
- Thinsulate;
- Hollowfiber.
Down jackets are used for everyday wear in winter, early spring and late autumn. The main advantages of a down jacket over other outerwear are:
- Light weight;
- Water-repellent upper fabric;
- Good heat retention.
Jacket
A jacket is a universal outerwear that guarantees comfort at any time of year. The most popular types of jackets are:
- Parka (Parka) is an elongated winter or demi-season jacket to the middle of the thigh. For a tighter fit, a drawstring is provided at the bottom of the jacket and/or waist. The parka has many patch pockets. The insulation in such models is natural down or artificial filler;
- Bomber is a short jacket for men for spring or autumn with a knitted belt and cuffs. Some models have a hood and a false collar. Such clothing is convenient for drivers - it does not restrict movement and does not affect reaction speed.
The upper material for demi-season models of such jackets is nylon and polyester, for winter models – cashmere, wool. The lining is made of acetate silk or synthetic materials.
The manufacturer's table will help you choose the size of outerwear - it indicates the corresponding sizes according to international, American and European classifications, taking into account the circumference of the hips, chest, waist, and sleeve length.
Raincoat or trench coat
A raincoat is a long (almost to the knee) uninsulated men's outerwear intended for autumn or spring. Recently, in addition to demi-season models, insulated winter raincoats have also begun to appear. Two rows of buttons and a wide belt serve to fasten the raincoat and tighten it at the waist.
Classic raincoats are made from the following materials:
- Leather;
- Camel wool;
- Denim;
- Textiles of various densities.
The popularity of such outerwear for men is explained not only by the wide variety of styles, but also by the wide choice of colors. Coats can be either plain (black, blue, beige, gray, white) or with various patterns (checkered, striped).
A trench coat (or trench coat) is a classic double-breasted raincoat with a turn-down collar, shoulder straps, cuffs and a belt tied at the waist. The name of such a coat translated from English means "trench coat". Initially, this outerwear was used in the British army, as a type of uniform for soldiers. Trench coats are sewn from waterproof fabrics - nylon, microfiber, polyester, viscose. Coats of this type made of natural fabrics (wool, gabardine, silk) are less common and are quite expensive. Like classic raincoats, trench coats have a wide variety of colors.
Leather jacket
A kosuha is a short men's jacket made of rough and thick leather with a narrowed waist. Initially intended for military and police officers, but over time it became a cult garment for bikers and heavy music lovers. This jacket appeared on the market in 1928 under the PERFECTO brand. This jacket acquired its familiar name for a Russian person due to the massive zipper located diagonally from the left hip to the right shoulder.
A modern biker jacket can be made not only from expensive leather, but also from cheaper leatherette. Also, in addition to the classic black color, you can find models of other colors. Many owners of such jackets additionally decorate them with shoulder and elbow pads, various stripes, lacing, leather fringe on the sleeves and belt. The biker jacket is suitable for riding a motorcycle, as well as for wearing in the warm season - it gives its owner masculinity and brutality.
Pea coat
A pea jacket is a Russian men's outerwear garment, first introduced as a uniform for sailors of Tsarist Russia in 1848. The original name for this garment was "bruschtlat" and came from the German words "brust" - chest and "latte" - protective plate. Over time, this name evolved first to "burshlat" and then to the familiar and easy to pronounce "pea jacket". The length, material and blue color typical of military sailor clothing also changed over time.
A modern men's pea coat is a double-breasted shortened coat (up to 80 cm long) with a wide English turn-down collar, patches (patches) on the cuffs and slit pockets. It is fastened with two rows of large, often metal buttons. Pea coats are made of melton wool - a very high-quality and durable blended material, which, along with natural components, includes nylon. There are also models made of pure wool, treated with special water-repellent and dirt-repellent impregnations. Thanks to the dense fabric, you can wear such men's outerwear in the fall, cool spring, mild winter.
Sportswear
In the wardrobe of a man leading an active lifestyle, sportswear is represented by the following types:
- Sweatshirts (hoodies) are long outerwear with a hood and a knitted elastic band at the bottom. The hood has ties for tightening. There are models that are put on over the head, and there is a roomy pocket in the front. Suitable not only for sports, but also for everyday wear;
- Sports jackets are men's clothing for sports in different seasons. Such jackets are sewn from thin and durable synthetic fabric with water-repellent impregnation. The style is distinguished by a small number of pockets, a reliable zipper and a waist drawstring. Winter models have down or synthetic insulation. Such jackets are intended for jogging, outdoor activities;
- Sports vests are light sleeveless jackets. They are sewn from light and durable synthetic material. For winter and autumn models, vests are insulated with padding polyester or other synthetic filler. Winter vests also often have a hood.
