Using a tiara in festive looks, advice from stylists

Headwear

The image of a person of royal blood is invariably complemented by an elegant crown on the head. Once upon a time, the product was made exclusively of precious metals and cost a fortune. Today, such an accessory is used for special occasions, because a tiara is an ornament with a scattering of sparkling stones, reminiscent of a crown. Traditionally, it symbolizes the high status of its owner.

What is decoration?

The name is translated from Greek as "tie", "fasten". The tiara has a circular shape, made in the form of a crown, which is worn on the head. The product looks luxurious, sophisticated, and adds femininity and nobility to the image.

There is a similar decoration – a tiara, which is an open ring of a regular round shape.

The main distinguishing features of a diadem from a tiara and other head decorations:

  • in shape it is a closed circle, tapering from the front side to the edges;
  • decorated with precious stones (or imitation stones) all around;
  • the product is made of precious metals or coated with gold or silver.

History of the accessory

Wearing head ornaments in the form of hoops, similar to modern tiaras, was accepted in ancient times. Initially, they were intended for men of royal blood. Such a crown was worn by the Pharaoh Sneferu in Egypt, and it was called "seshed". However, the first true tiaras appeared in Ancient Greece. Headbands of priestesses, as well as laurel wreaths, were called symbols of glory.

In the Middle Ages they lost their popularity, they were worn only in Byzantium. The fashion for head decorations was revived in the Empire era. Then they were made in the antique style, decorated with semi-precious and ornamental stones.

In Russia, the prototype of this accessory was the kokoshnik under Tsar Nicholas I. They were worn by both the rich and the middle class. For aristocrats, jewelry was made of gold, platinum, inlaid with diamonds and pearls.

Luxurious and pretentious tiaras are worn today by representatives of royal families, princesses and duchesses in England and other monarchical states. These items have a centuries-old history and are passed down through generations. However, the decoration is also popular among modern girls without titles. Most often, a tiara is worn to create majestic or romantic images for a special occasion, for example:

  • gala evening;
  • wedding;
  • photoshoot.

It is important to choose the right clothes, hairstyle, and makeup to match such a demanding accessory.

Varieties

The modern fashion industry offers girls many types of tiaras, differing in design, material, and way of wearing. The most common models are as follows.

  1. Crowns. Richly decorated with precious stones, inserts of rich fabrics, other metals. They have great weight and status significance, used for awarding at beauty contests and other events.

Color options

Most often, the base of the product is made of metals. Gold jewelry is expensive, usually chosen by wealthy people, celebrities. Such an accessory confirms the high status of its owner. The characteristic yellow color is ideal for evening events.

Silver tiaras are more affordable accessories and are a great addition to any special occasion. White products are also popular. In this case, the frame can be made of fabric, metal, and even painted tree branches.

In addition to the standard gold and silver shades, today designers also use other options:

  1. Black. They look the most extravagant. They can be made of beads, Czech glass, Swarovski crystals, agate.
  2. Green. To create non-standard images, use jewelry made of malachite and emerald.
  3. Blue. The shade is given by finishing with aquamarine, turquoise, lapis lazuli, topaz, sapphire, semi-precious and ornamental stones.
  4. Violet. Such accents are provided by inserts of iolite, garnet, ametrine, amethyst.
  5. Mother-of-pearl. Delicate colors have tiaras made of pearls, with ceramic inserts or plastic parts.

Evening looks with a tiara

A luxurious head decoration is most relevant for evening events, it goes well with both cocktail and elegant floor-length dresses. With the help of tiaras, you can create a lot of bright images that will be remembered by others:

  1. Bride. Often, a tiara becomes a replacement for a veil, since today the latter is considered an outdated accessory. For a bride, an item decorated with pearls or sparkling precious stones is ideal. The tiara should be combined with earrings and a necklace.
  2. Graduate. Small openwork tiaras are suitable for young girls. They are fixed on the head with hairpins to feel confident at the event. Depending on the design of the outfit, it is worth choosing a suitable tiara. So, a Greek-style tiara may suit a light airy dress with an accent on the waist.
  3. Queen of the evening. High luxurious tiaras go well with a floor-length outfit. The shorter the hair, the simpler the design of the accessory. The style of clothing should match the headpiece. For example, for a shabby chic outfit, tiaras decorated with flowers are ideal, and for a dress in the style of the 20s of the last century - a bandeau. An accessory in the Kazakh style goes well with ethnic costumes, suitable for theme parties. A pearl tiara harmoniously matches a "flying" dress or a chiffon suit.

It is also important to choose the right fit of the tiara on your head depending on your hairstyle. If the hair is pulled back high on the crown, the decoration is fixed at the back of the head. If the hair is loose, the tiara is worn above the forehead. If the girl has bangs, the decoration is placed at their base.
